Project Description

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized college-readiness program that prepares students for higher education through structured learning strategies. The AVID One Pager is one of the most powerful AVID strategies — a visual, student-created artifact that combines writing, critical thinking, and creativity to demonstrate deep understanding of any topic.

The AVID One Pager is a natural fit for AVID elective teachers because it directly addresses all five components of the WICOR framework:

  • Writing — Students craft a central claim and supporting ideas in their own words
  • Inquiry — The driving question pushes students to think beyond surface-level recall
  • Collaboration — Students share and discuss their One Pagers with peers
  • Organization — The structured template teaches students to organize complex information visually
  • Reading — Students draw from texts, articles, podcasts, or films to build their central claim
